Dash and Paddle 2008 was terrible. This is the only race that postpone the race timing from 0900 hours to 1200 hours. 3 hours, can you imagine that?
Ok la, University organised de sure got cock up. Guess what the reason - The van that transport the kayak got lost. Wth.

But even though all this, Dash and Paddle was really fun. I met many new friends from other poly. Also from MR 25 runners. One of singapore top few. Ah Kek (Same surname), Lexxus and one more lady whom i forget her name. Hahaha. Can you imagine that. 30 - 40 years old guy and girl that can run sub 9 minutes for 2.4km. Their best can go all the way till sub 7 and sub 8. Wao.
So in future, i will join MR 25 runner more often.

This is the only race which i really give. Kayaking was really terrible, very hard to control the kayak. But that time i was already 4th position. Then during the run (Imagine at 1200 noon), i run and run and feel like giving up. So i did this. I run onto the marshaller (a young boy) and hug him, then i push him away saying why he block my way. Hahaha. Not bullying him but just teasing him. Have alot of fun disturbing them.

THis have been the day i long for. After months of training, finally SIngapore Biathlon.
Why am i so interested in this sport?
1. Actually influence by michelle and shu and all their kakis, Mok, Michelle No. 2, Dinah etc.
2. Deeply impacted by the video Team Hoyt ** http://youtube.com/watch?v=-uulmhtAeGI **,
It would be great if at the age of60 and i'm still running marathlon or triahtlon with my children and imagine that they will be shouting "Wait for me Dad" Won't it be awesome.
3. Initially i am not posted to Gombak Base, i'm suppose to be at Khatib FCC, but because i want to train for Biathlon, i choose Gombak Base and suffer so much under that TT Choo.

Suppose to meet Joel to go for the Biathlon, but he came out to singapore by BUgis,
WHen he told me he is at Bugis, i told he go clubbing at bugis and go straight for Biathlon. Amazing, but he take bus la. Hahaha.
So Joel went first then i take MRT to City hall, thinking that i could save alot for Taxi Fare

then i was at City Hall, i saw this guy holding a shoe bag in atheltic attire. So i think he should be going for biathlon too. So i approach him to share taxi. Wahahah. It works. THen i realise he is one of the Staff Segerant at 5SIR. So he pay for Taxi fare first and i return him at later date.

Something funny when i reach East Coast, i was loooking for JOel, he never pick up my call, then i heard from the Annoucement "Looking for JOel Low Wen Jun, you wallet is at the lost and found. Please come to collect it." Hahaha, He lost wallet also dun noe. THen we get back our wallet.

Meet alot of my PTI friend. JOel, Ming Jie, Melvin, Shu heng (my buddy in PTI course), Gus and alot alot. IT has been a while since last met them. NEver talk much, everyone in hurry for preparation.

Before this Biathlon, i was very neverous, thinking that i did not train much for this and not good enough. but Kenneth from Joint encourage me to enjoy the race, not to think so much. Just dun noe why, his words really encourage me and i really take the race as a fun thing. Standing at the beach, waiting for the siren to sound, i was not nervous at all. For the first time.

Swim was NOt bad. NEver really tried swimming 1.5km at one go. THe swim was like never ending. The circuit was like a L shape, so going out one straight like and turn back. When i was going the first part, i was other (those fast swimmers) are coming back opposite of the lane rope, many times i was so tempted to U-turn and join them. THen i will be super fast. hahaa. But i never la.

OUt of the swim, i saw Victor, the super fit old man from Tekong swimming pool, he run and overtake people like nobody business. Saw Alvin, Kevin Chin and BRian Seetoh infront of me. The rest, behind me. hahahaha. At the 1.5km point, shit... My Shin cramp come again, I thought i was going to give up but then i look to the person beside me. I ask him "do you have the strength to continue run at this speed (The speed is good and steady). He say ok then we pace each other. We chit chat along the way and soon, the cramp is gone. Getting into the pace and momentumn, i endure all the way till 10km. But at the last km, i could not take it, the NUS guy went alone. But i still come in 50 minutes for 10km, some more is after swim. Cool.I was delighted with my results.

End of it, all the Joint Staff took one group photo, too bad i could not post it. Classified Information. Hahaha.

Jan 23, That is my 22th birthday.

Looking back, 22 years of my life, i acheived nothing to my name.
Bank account with that few hundred dollars and nothing much already.

BUt year 2007 have been a great year.
Completed my PTI course, did an 8-5 job,
Done my first AHM, sprint biathlon and sprint triathlon.
Done my first basic diving at Pulau Dayang
Having 2 great friends, Michelle and Shu (Touched when seeing this?)
and i believe year 2008 will be a even better year.
A year of ORD and going into university.

Last year this time, i remember i celebrate my 21th birthday at outfield (Forest).
Super sad. After training, super tired, dirty, smelly. So tired that want to sleep.
Only a few close mate and wish me happy birthday and sleep at out field already.
To make things worst, before my birthday that sunday. I suppose to book out from army to home.
Then got one guy (F**ker), he got report sick and i kanna over night guard duty from saturday to monday. so 21th birthday = no celebration. actually 20th birthday also no celebration.
So this year, really thank God for Shu and MIchelle. Hahaha.
So my celebration was a Holland V Coffee Shop. Its ok about the venue. Shu, Santosh, Michelle, Mok, Diana (Mok's friend) and Michelle then 2nd. Surya cannot make it. I invited pei rong, but she got to go sing KTV. Michelle try to cheat, say she cannot make it, but from the way shu behave, i know they are scheming. Hahhaa. Shu really cannot lie, I seat down on the chair, and she want me to change seat. Reason is seat there better. Then i saw michelle, Mok and diana coming from behind. Hahaha. Surprise failed. Hahaha.

That night, really have alot of funs eating, bull shiting and shu and michelle's prank calling. If one day you receive a Private calling asking you about sweet juicy mango, hey, you have just been pranked by them. Hahaha.

Really Thank God greatly for this year.

This year, i have complete Army Half Marathon, NIE Biathlon (Sprint), Osim Coporate Traithlon (Sprint).

THank MIchelle, Shu, Surya for their encouragement and support. Hahaha. THank PRiscilla for her bike.

Actually my phycial career really start this year when i get into PTI course. From running 2.4km only, become 5km, 10km. NOw highest acheivement is 21km. Going on for 42 km next year. Nothing is really impossible. I am very blessed by a video - Team Hoyt (can search in youtube). The video that talk about the love relationship of a father and son. I really want, when i am 50 years old, i could still join all these marathon and triathlon even with my son or daughter in their teens. It will be such a acheivement.

This Triathlon, i improve my swim from 17minutes in triathlon (750m) to 15min (750m) in this coporate triathlon. But during the cycle, i was dead tired. I have overtaken my swimmers in the first swim leg, but at cycle, i was overtaken by all of them. Their racer bike zoom past me, one by one. I'm using a mountain bike, so could not complete with them. But after finishing 40km of cycle, it was the slowest run i even did. 29 mins for my 5km run. During the run, i even ask myself, why am i doing all these making myself suffer. But when i cross over the finishing line, nothing matters to me anymore than the sastification.

Saturday Morning 22 Sept.

Wake up at 6-7am, with only 2-3 hours of sleep. Terrible.
Some more still need to put on my contact lenses. Luckly i got some experience of using contact lense. 2minutes and it was done. Yong Hwee is first time using contact lense. He took like 10 over minutes. Better than first time i try contact lense.

Breakfast was good. My dive team during the pool practice have Me,Heiko, 2 Iran Couple, Chee Wee and Serene. Now we got 2 new comer. Rachel and Joanne.

FIrst dive was awesome and nervous.

Dayang Trip #1

This is the long awaited posting for my blog. Have been back from Pulau Dayang since end of Sept, and yet to post any comments on the trip. I really enjoy my dive to Dayang.

Really Thanks Raymond for intro me to NTU Dive Club. Thank CPT Raymond.

Ever Since 2006, i always have the dream and the desire to go diving. I really love the nature, the sea, the senery. Before i went to army, Zong Yuan say he want to go dive too. I wait and wait. During his holiday, he say no enough cash. I wait and wait, in the end, i enlisted to army already. OK, so after i have pass out as a PTI, offical 8-5pm job, i ask Zong Yuan go. But this time, he is going to be Naval Diver. NO need to go for commercial diving course. OK nevermind. THen Pei Rong also interested. I wait, and wait. Then during holiday and with the money, she say,"Not good la, only me and you go dive. Next time who i go dive with?"
OK the answer is straight forward. No one to accompany to go diving. Anyway, Zong Yuan and Pei Rong are silbings.

So this time, i really want to acheive my dream. I do not want to talk the talk,and not walk the walk. I can talk for 10 years about diving, but never make my effort, its still nothing. So just nice, Raymond got lobang in diving at NTU, so i join them. THank God for that.

First night (21 Sept), i assembled at NTU sport hall. Knowing only Serene and Chee Wee who are my team mates for pool practice. Really feel very awkard as i know no one else. But actually since young, i have been joining school trips alone. So is still ok to me.

The ride to Mersling is still ok. 5-6 hours bus ride, unable to sleep all the way. Then transfer to boat at Mersling ferry terminal. Even worst, the weather was terrible, and the boat is swaying left and right, up and down. Many times, i almost want to vomit. Terrible.

Finally around 3am, we reach the dive resort, and manage to get some sleep. FINALLY.

Actually i do quite like running. Is like a acheivement to me. Why. I was touched by a video call Team Hoyt or CAN - World
s Strongest Dad.

This video is talking about and love of a father and son. The son is a disabled. The father bring him taking compeition in marathon, triathlon , ironman etc. The father results in all these competition can become one of the elite in the country but he refused to take part alone. He say he and his son is a team bcos during these competition, only makes his disabled son feel he is alive.

So my dream and target was to keep my fitness up to take part in these competition. Competition for the sake of fun and completing them for acheivement. My real goal was to see myself, continue to be so fit and take part in competition with my son. Imagine at my age of 50, running triathlon with my son. That is wat i am going to be.

Marathon - The meaning behind it.
The name, "marathon", comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek soldier, who was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping, but moments after proclaiming his message to the city he collapsed dead from exhaustion. THis is how Marathon Come about.

Army Half Marathon

Its have been 2 weeks since i complete the Army Half Marathon. It is a wonderful experience. Before army, the longest distance i run was 4.8km during cross country which i took hours to complete. After army, longest was 4-6km during training. Who knows, a PTI course i took during army, make me fall in love with running (easy run). Hahahaha.

Actually it is not complusory for me to run the AHM. Many people is been forced to run, but i pay the money to run. Sound Weird huh.

THank God for MWO Daniel, he offer me a ride, if not i think i need to take Taxi down to the venue. I met up alot of old friends. Ming Jie, Bernard, and other PTIs. I also meet up Warrent Sim. Actually my PC during BSLC. Quite a Fu*ker, but after course is a nice guy.

at 0530 sharp, the siren sound. Everyone like escape from terrorism, flee up so fast. I just run for 5 minutes and feel a strong sensation. A sensation to pee. THen i realise there are 2 groups of people. One group running down the road. The other group run to the side where there are some bushes and i join them - peeing on the road. That is so fun. Peeing and seeing people run. Hahaha.

When i get back to run, i was running straight but looking left and right. See got pretty girls anot. Hahaha. Actually i saw this girl, quite pretty and running fast. So i thought this pace is just nice. So i join her. Running beside her. She run left, i go left, she go right, i go right. I think she know i am following her, so she is like a racing car, moving left and right trying to get rid of me. Hahahaha. But after around 8km, i realise that i am running too fast. I just slow down. Super paiseh, this girl is too fit liao. I also see old man running and overtaking me. Ego down to the bottom. Hahaha.

Before This compeition, my longest distance was 10km. Without much training, i challenge 21km. It was like running through hell, Thank God for my MP3 player accompanying all the way. Thank God for making me completing the race in one piece.

*just an extra note. I actually complete the race with my arms lifting up. LIke those champion did during olympic. Hahaha. Sense of acheivement for completeing 21km.
